It varies, and it is the difference most people miss. One three-hour tour pours five: three wines from different Spanish Denominations of Origin, a Basque cider and a local liqueur. Another pours four, arranged from dry cider through red and white to a dessert sherry. A premium format offers five drinks with a choice of red, white, natural cider, local beer or soft drinks. Non-alcoholic options are available on most tours.

For the first evening, usually yes. The Parte Vieja packs bar after bar into a handful of blocks, each with one thing it does better than its neighbours, and the hot menu is not on display. Doing the same eight bites and four glasses yourself would cost roughly €30–45 — so most of the ticket price is the guide's routing and ordering. No, and the overlap is smaller than you would expect. One tour builds its route around a 1970s cider bar known for mussels, a specialist ham shop, an anchovy bar and a modern plated counter. Another opens at the Bretxa market with a ham tasting and an olive oil merchant before it reaches a bar at all. A third works the Gros neighbourhood and finishes at the city's oldest bakery, which has baked the same recipe since 1886.

Check the age floor before booking — it is higher than most food tours. One major operator does not recommend its tour for under-15s because of the crowded bars and the alcohol focus. Operators describe their tours as adaptable for vegetarians, pescatarians, gluten-free (not coeliac) and dairy-free guests, while warning there may not be a replacement at every stop. One small-group tour states plainly that vegetarian and gluten-free guests are well accommodated. Vegans are the exception: almost every listing in the city says the tour is not recommended for them.
