Wine Tour Prices, Times & Booking in San Sebastián (2026)

What a wine tasting or wine tour costs in San Sebastián in 2026, when to go and how to book: real prices, opening hours, Sunday tips and a budget table.

Updated 2026-10-20

A wine night in San Sebastián can cost you €20 or €600, and both can be very good. You avoid the overpriced evening by knowing three things: what the price includes, which day of the week you’re going out, and whether you book with the operator or through a marketplace. Below are the prices, the opening hours and the booking lead times for 2026.

Quick answer: In San Sebastián in 2026, a glass of txakoli or Rioja at a pintxo bar costs about €2.50–€4, and a self-guided pintxo crawl runs €35–€60 per person. A guided pintxos and wine tour costs roughly €95–€155 per person on operators’ own sites, or $115–$168 on GetYourGuide (about 3 hours, food and drinks included). A sit-down sommelier tasting in town starts at €60. Txakoli winery visits in Getaria cost €22–€32 and Rioja winery visits €30–€70. A Rioja day trip from the city costs about €110–€300 per person in a small group, or €335–€775 per person private. Bars serve pintxos roughly 12:30–15:30 and 19:00–23:00; tours start around 11:30–12:30 for lunch and 18:00–19:00 for the evening. Many famous bars close on Sunday and/or Monday, and most wineries close on Sundays or Sunday afternoons. Book 2–4 weeks ahead from July to September, and a few days ahead the rest of the year.

What the big names charge (2026)

  • Devour Tours runs its Old Town pintxos and wine tour at 11:30 and 18:30 (3 hours, 8 pintxos and 4 drinks, max 9 guests); reseller sites have charged about €146 for an evening place. On GetYourGuide the same Devour Pintxos and Wine Tour is $120, rated 4.8/5 from 649 reviews. Devour’s Centro neighbourhood evening tour is from $122 on its own site (2.5 hours, max 8), and $115 on GetYourGuide as the Like a Local evening pintxos tour (4.8/5 from 99 reviews). On Expedia the Old Town tour has shown a lower lunchtime price than the 18:30 slot, because the evening sells better.
  • Mimo charges €155 for both its lunch (12:30) and dinner (18:30) pintxos and wine tours: 3 hours, generally max 8 guests, with all food, drinks and VAT included. Its private version is scaled: €290 per person for two, €260 for four, €225 for six and €175 for eight or nine. Mimo sells direct and is not on GetYourGuide.
  • Secret Food Tours lists €94.99 for a 3–3.5 hour tour (5–6 stops, max 12 guests), with an optional €12.49 drinks upgrade; under-2s go free. On GetYourGuide its Food Tour of 12 Tastings is $119, rated 4.7/5 from only 6 reviews so far.
  • Do Eat Better lists its San Sebastián food tour from €99.95, running at 12:00 and 18:15, Monday to Saturday, with 2–12 seats. The Do Eat Better food tour is $115 on GetYourGuide, rated 4.9/5 from 139 reviews.
  • Curdelón, the Gros wine bar and shop, runs tastings at €60 per person: 5 wines and 3 pairings (cheeses, pâté, pickled mussels), about an hour, minimum two people, booking required, in Basque, French, English or Spanish.

Txakoli wineries (Getaria, 30 minutes west)

  • Txomin Etxaniz: €22, 90 minutes, Monday–Saturday mornings (not on public holidays), txakolis with Getaria anchovies and white tuna; booking essential. The winery takes no visits in September, October or November.
  • Gaintza: €25, 90 minutes, Tuesday–Saturday at 11:30, three txakolis and three pintxos, minimum two; cellar closed 15 December–15 January.
  • Ameztoi: €24 for the three-wine tasting or €32 with anchovies and tuna, daily at 11:00 from 22 June to 14 September, minimum group of four (surcharges otherwise).
  • Hiruzta (Hondarribia): listed from €23 on WineTourism.com.
  • San Sebastián’s official tourism office sells a guided txakoli tour with private transport at €145 for adults, €50 for ages 12–17 and €20 for under-12s. On GetYourGuide, the Getaria txakoli wine tour costs $168 with transport from the city (4.7/5 from 45 reviews).

Rioja (about 1.5–2 hours south)

  • Marqués de Riscal (Elciego): Visit 1 is €30 for adults (90 minutes, three wines with chorizo), €14 for ages 11–17, €4 for younger children and free under 2; Visit 2 (adults only) is €45 and Visit 3 is €60.
  • Muga (Haro): standard winery tour €30 (90 minutes), tasting class €60, vineyard e-bike €90, and a Premium Plus tour at €70 with a six-person minimum, adults only and no refund inside 72 hours.
  • CVNE (Haro): recent listings give €30 per adult (€12 per child) for a 90-minute visit, a 60-minute tour and a 30-minute tasting of three wines, with the Imperial visit at €45 and a visit with lunch at €85. CVNE’s own site doesn’t publish prices, so confirm when you book.
  • Day trips: small groups of up to eight with one winery and lunch run about €186–€224 per person through Barceló’s experiences site, and Local Experts’ winery-and-lunch day costs $276–$293 on Expedia. Wine Tourism Spain lists a private day from €335, and Wine Tours Rioja’s private chauffeured day is €620 per person for two, falling to €420 per person for four to seven. The cheapest small group we found is the La Rioja wines and Laguardia tour on Viator, €110 with two wineries (4.8/5 from 109 reviews). For a private day on GetYourGuide, the Ikusnahi private Rioja day is $357 per person (5.0/5 from 8 reviews). Our Rioja day trip guide compares every option.

Cider houses and Michelin pairings

Txotx season, when cider is poured straight from the barrel, opened in Gipuzkoa on 14 January 2026 with the first barrel at Sidrería Petritegi in Astigarraga (Orain.eus), and some cider houses keep going into May: Gurutzeta’s 2026 season ran from 16 January to 3 May. Sidrería Etxeberria and Saraberri both list €46 menus, Gurutzeta charges €47 (or €37 on weekday lunches, Wednesday to Friday), and Astarbe’s cider-house menu is €54, with a €45 vegan menu and a €23 children’s menu. The Traditional Cider House Tour with Lunch adds transport from the city for $96 (4.9/5 from 193 reviews). More in our Basque cider houses guide.

At the top end, Martín Berasategui lists €395 for the tasting menu plus €210 for the wine pairing (€605). Arzak doesn’t publish its prices online, so ask when you book; its pairing is served to the whole table. Akelarre’s tasting menus are €395 with drinks extra, and the restaurant says its prices rise every year just before summer.

What the price includes, and what it usually leaves out

Usually included: VAT (Spanish prices are quoted tax-inclusive), all listed food and drinks on guided tours, and the guide.

Usually excluded: tips, hotel pickup on walking tours, extra drinks beyond the stated count, and transport to wineries unless it’s a day trip.

Watch the drinks count. “4 drinks” can mean four small pours, and a cheaper tour may include fewer than a premium one: Secret Food Tours, for example, sells its extra drinks as an upgrade. Children are welcome on most food tours, with soft drinks instead of wine. Devour has offered reduced child and teen pricing and recommends a private tour for families with young kids. Many winery tastings are adults-only: Muga’s Premium Plus and Marqués de Riscal’s Visits 2 and 3 are 18+.

Booking direct or through Viator and GetYourGuide

Online marketplaces take a commission from the operator. OTA Playbook puts Viator’s standard commission at 20% of the booking value and says GetYourGuide starts new operators at 30%; SambaHQ’s 2026 guide reports Viator’s typical rate as 25%, rising to 30–35% with its Accelerate promotion programme. That is why the same tour can show different prices on different sites. The Devour Old Town tour, for example, is $120 on GetYourGuide and €146 on Devour’s own site.

Best time of day: an evening tour is the wine night most people picture, but lunch is calmer, often cheaper on marketplaces, and the bars are less packed. Best day: Tuesday to Thursday, when everything is open, and Thursday adds pintxo-pote. Sunday: take a lunchtime tour or go to a cider house in season, and stick to bars that open daily. Monday: the hardest day for the famous bars, so book a tour with an operator that knows which places are open. Our guide to the best pintxos bars in San Sebastián has a day-by-day closing chart.

Wine tastings today: how to find same-day availability

  1. Check the operators’ own booking calendars first; small-group tours sometimes have one or two seats left on the day.
  2. Message or call. WhatsApp is common in San Sebastián.
  3. Use the “today” date filter on GetYourGuide or Viator to see who is running.
  4. No luck? Do a self-guided crawl in Gros or the Parte Vieja, or walk into Curdelón for wines by the glass.

Wine-night ideas, with budgets

  • The classic evening pintxos and wine tour (€105–€155, or $115–$121 on GetYourGuide): a 6:30 pm start, 3 hours, 4–6 bars, local wines explained. Best for a first night.
  • Gros wine-bar crawl (€40–€70): start with a tasting or a few glasses at Curdelón, then eat pintxos along Calle Zabaleta and around Plaza Cataluña.
  • Thursday pintxo-pote in Gros (€15–€25): five or six pintxo-and-drink combos at about €3.50 each. Local fun, not a wine lesson.
  • Sunset txakoli (€15–€30): a few glasses of txakoli near Zurriola beach or the port, then dinner.
  • Late night (€20–€50): once pintxo kitchens close around 23:00, move to a wine or cocktail bar that stays open later (check its current hours).

Value tips: how not to overpay

  • Private can cost close to the group price. Mimo’s private tour drops to €175 per person for eight or nine people against €155 per person on the shared tour, so a group that size gets its own guide for €20 more each.
  • Lunch is often cheaper on marketplaces than the same tour in the evening.
  • Ask what “drinks” means. Count the pours, not the words “wine pairing”.
  • Avoid tourist-trap signs: laminated multilingual photo menus, pushy touts, pre-made pintxos sitting under clingfilm all evening, and no prices on display.
  • Stand at the bar like the locals; table service on a terrace can cost more, so check the menu.
  • Pay per pintxo. Keep track of what you’ve had; the bartender will ask.
  • Combine the two: a self-drive txakoli visit (€22–€25) plus lunch in Getaria costs less than many €150+ half-day packages if you have a car.

What does your budget buy?

Budget per personWhat you can do
€30A Thursday pintxo-pote crawl, or a self-drive txakoli visit at Txomin Etxaniz (€22, not September–November) plus a glass in Getaria
€60A sommelier tasting at Curdelón, or a full self-guided crawl with good wines
€100A budget group food tour (€95–€100), or Devour’s evening tour at $115 on GetYourGuide; or a cider-house menu plus drinks
€150A premium small-group pintxos and wine tour (Mimo €155, Devour €146), or a guided txakoli half-day (€145)
€300+A private tour for two (Mimo €290 per person), a small-group or private Rioja day, or a Michelin tasting menu (with the pairing, about €605 at Martín Berasategui)

Booking checklist

  • Check the day: is it a Sunday, a Monday or a festival week?
  • Confirm the start time, meeting point and duration.
  • Count the included pintxos and drinks.
  • Check the group size (8 is comfortable; 12 or more feels busier).
  • Read the cancellation policy (24 hours is common; some wineries ask for 72 hours).
  • Send dietary needs and allergies when you book, not on the day.
  • Confirm age rules: you must be 18 to drink in Spain, and some winery tastings are adults-only.
  • Ask about accessibility; Old Town bars are crowded and some have steps.
  • Wear comfortable shoes and bring a light rain jacket.
  • Compare the direct and marketplace prices; ask about gift vouchers or group quotes.
  • Read recent reviews on at least two platforms.

Red flags: no business name or contact details, cash-only “tours” touted on the street, very large groups at a low price, and routes that steer you to the same bars every time (these can be commission-driven). Tipping in Spain is appreciated but not mandatory; on guided tours, 5–10% for a great guide is generous.

Frequently asked questions

How much does a wine tasting cost in San Sebastián?

A sit-down sommelier tasting in town costs about €60 per person (Curdelón: 5 wines, 3 pairings). A txakoli winery visit in Getaria costs €22–€32, and a Rioja winery visit €30–€70.

How much is a pintxos and wine tour in San Sebastián?

Group tours cost roughly €95–€155 per person on operators’ own sites, or $115–$168 on GetYourGuide, for about 3 hours with food and drinks included. Private tours run about €175–€290 per person, depending on group size.

What time do wine tours start in San Sebastián?

Lunch tours usually start between 11:30 and 12:30, and evening tours between 18:00 and 19:00. Winery visits are mostly late morning.

Can I do a wine tasting on a Sunday in San Sebastián?

Yes, but choose carefully. Many famous pintxo bars close on Sunday evening or Monday, and most txakoli wineries close on Sundays. Lunchtime tours, bars that open daily and cider houses in season are your best options.

Can I book a wine tasting for today?

Often, yes, outside July to September. Check the operators’ own booking calendars first, then message them; small-group tours sometimes release last-minute seats.

How far ahead should I book a wine tour in San Sebastián?

Two to four weeks ahead from July to September and during festivals, and a few days ahead the rest of the year. Michelin pairings need one to three months.

Is it cheaper to book direct or on Viator or GetYourGuide?

Neither is always cheaper. Marketplaces take a commission of roughly 20–30% from operators (OTA Playbook puts Viator’s standard rate at 20% and GetYourGuide’s starting rate at 30%), yet some tours cost less on GetYourGuide: Devour’s Old Town tour is $120 there against €146 direct. Marketplaces also offer easy free cancellation, so compare both.

Are tips included in tour prices in Spain?

Usually not. Tipping isn’t mandatory, but 5–10% for an excellent guide is appreciated.

Can children join a pintxos and wine tour?

Yes on most food tours, with soft drinks instead of wine. Many winery tastings are adults-only, and you must be 18 to drink alcohol in Spain.

When is cider (txotx) season near San Sebastián?

From mid-January (the 2026 season opened on 14 January) to late April or early May (Gurutzeta’s ran until 3 May in 2026), with set menus of about €37–€54 per person including unlimited cider.

Our picks

  • Best value: Thursday pintxo-pote in Gros, or Txomin Etxaniz at €22 if you have a car (December to August).
  • Best splurge: a private Rioja day, or Martín Berasategui with the wine pairing (€605).
  • Best for last-minute plans: a self-guided Gros crawl starting at Curdelón, or today’s slots on the Devour Pintxos and Wine Tour.
  • Best Sunday option: a lunchtime guided tour, or a cider house in txotx season.
  • Best wine night: an evening small-group pintxos and wine tour, then a nightcap in Gros.
